SPEED was on the track at the NIRCA Track and Field National Championships this weekend, as went sent 16 members of the sprints / mid-d crew to Olivet, MI to compete! The squad overcame the scorching hot day 1 and downpour on day 2 to drop some very impressive times, gaining some new PRs, club records and All-Americans in the process. The team unity was high all weekend, culminating in the entire team running the 4×4!

NOTEWORTHY PERFORMANCES:

-Grace Jordan snagged 3rd overall and All-American status in the 100m hurdles, following a club record of 27.67 in the 200m dash the day before (placing 12th overall)

-Alex Lincoln took 5th overall the 400m in 1:02.93, earning All-American status and a setting new club record

-Brandon Onyejekwe earned All-American status twice by taking 6th overall in both the 110m hurdles and the 400m hurdles, setting a new club record for the latter in 57.55

-Franklin Ollivierre flew around the track to take down the 400m club record in 51.30 (placing 11th overall)

-Oliver Marker smashed his 6-day old 800m club record with a 1:57.94, good for 11th place overall

-Kenichi Gomi, in his first open 400m EVER, dropped a 52.43, good for #3 all time for our team. He then followed it up with PRs in the 1500m (4:17.80, NUCR #5), and the 800m (1:59:47, NUCR #2)

-The men’s 4x100m team (Ben Zhuang, Matteo Bordin, Brandon Onyejekwe, Joey Tsai) bested their 6-day old club record with a 45.60 (taking 11th place overall)

-The women’s 4x400m squad (Alex Lincoln, Grace Jordan, Abisola Olaogun, Melanne Ghahraman) took down the club record in 4:34.19 and took 11th overall

-The men’s 4x400m A-team (Matteo Bordin, Cole Gaynor, Trevor Wozny, Franklin Ollivierre) capped off the weekend with a new club record in 3:31.54. The men’s B-team (Brandon Onyejekwe, Joey Tsai, Oliver Marker Kenichi Gomi) ran 3:37.18, good for 14th overall and another NUCR top-3 time
