What Is NUCR?
We’re a group of people who love to run! We pride ourselves in welcoming runners of all different experience and ability levels. Whether you’re a former high school athlete or someone who just jogs for fun, the club running team is right for you! While we don’t make cuts, we do require our distance athletes to be able to run four miles at 9:00/mile (5:35/km) pace. This is a safety precaution to ensure no one gets left behind. There is no requirement to join the sprinting team.
We practice Monday-Thursday at 6:00 p.m. on Krentzman Quad. Attendance is not mandatory, and you’re welcome to come to however many practices fit your schedule. If you’re looking for more, our more competitive runners often set up group runs on weekends.
Wihtin our weekly emails, we include a practice schedule that inlcudes our plans for the week. The distance and marathon groups often schedule two harder efforts per week, but there are always easy run groups that break off on workout days. The sprinters go to the track almost daily to do drills and speed work.
On the weekends, we compete in a wide variety of races throughout the fall and spring semesters. In the fall, we primarily focus on cross country meets but try to give the sprinters any opportunities we can find. In the spring, we compete in both indoor and outdoor track meets acorss the New England Area!
In addition to typical practices and races, we also offer a number of social events throughout the semester!
Some events we’ve done in the past:
- Pasta Parties
- Chocolate Milk Mile
- Ice Skating
- NUCR Scavenger Hunt
- And many more!
