Strength Training

How we go fast

Hi Everyone!

I’m reaching out to provide you with a Two-Day Strength Training workout I designed specifically for this first month of marathon training. This workout uses minimal equipment, simple exercises that help to provide an efficient training session, and movement variability to help keep important muscles, bones and joints strong and healthy through your marathon prep. Each month I will be sending a new phase of workouts to be completed during your next month of training. Videos are embedded for the sake of simplicity, and yes they are guest starring Beacon.

As a Strength and Conditioning Specialist, I understand that strength training is paramount to a successful training cycle both in the form of injury prevention as well as performance enhancement. Use these strength training workouts designed by a marathoner for my fellow marathoners. These workouts are free to you, but if you find them useful, enjoyable or entertaining (Beacon content), please consider donating to my marathon fundraising efforts (Venmo: @bchuma and last 4 digits of phone number 8246). Every little bit counts and below you will find a write up detailing how your support goes to aid the children of South Boston get moving and stay moving!

As many of you may know I am running the Boston Marathon for the 2nd year in a row for Colin’s Joy Project – a charity committed to building safe play spaces for children in the greater South Boston community. These play spaces are designed to instill movement and exercise habits through play and sprinkle a little bit of joy into the lives of those who use them. This is how Colin McGrath lives on in each of us – through the smiles and joy we are lucky enough to experience each time we choose to live our lives through random acts of kindness, with joy in our hearts, and smiles on our faces. If you find my guidance through these workouts useful please consider donating to my fundraising effort here (Venmo: @bchuma and last 4 digits of phone number 8246). Every little bit helps us make our city and this world a better place.

Please feel free to forward this email and the attached workouts to your High School and Collegiate teammates, any and all run clubs you are a part of or training partners that may benefit. I sincerely appreciate your support…Run Strong for Colin!
