We had eight NUCR members compete at the Boston Marathon this year, which is the most in the team’s history! Every athlete qualified at an earlier marathon, meaning this race was years in the making for some folks. Months of training paid off in a big way; the crew ran some impressive times and plenty of personal records.
For one, NUCR President Vinny Castronuovo ran a jaw dropping time of 2:27:47 and placed 80th overall! He shattered the club’s past marathon record by nearly five minutes! Former president Brendan Hehir was next across the line coming in at 2:31:20, which was nearly a two minute PR from his last Boston Marathon in the fall. Soon after, Alex Knueppel crossed the line at 2:36:01, running a 6 minute PR.
Next to finish were Dan Adrion (2:55:05), David Muir (2:57:19), Tyler Locke (3:02:38), Matt Petrocelli (3:30:21), and Dan Maloney (3:59:28). Matt even made the news for his miraculous finish after passing out halfway through the race.
The marathon craze continues for the next few weeks, as we have 15 NUCR members racing at the Brooklyn, Delaware, and Providence Marathons!
