About Us
We like to go fast
What Is NUCR?
NU Club Running is a group of Northeastern students who love to run! We pride ourselves in welcoming runners of all different experience and ability levels. Whether you’re a former high school athlete or someone who just jogs for fun, the club running team is right for you!
Practices
We meet for practice Mon-Thurs at 6:00PM on Krentzman Quad. Attendance is not mandatory, and you’re welcome to come to however many practices fit your schedule. We send out a practice schedule that includes our plans for the week in our weekly emails.
The distance and marathon groups usually schedule two run outs and two harder efforts per week. We run various routes along the Charles River, throughout the Emerald Necklace (The Commons, the Fens, Jamaica Pond), and downtown. Visit our routes page to see our common routes and distances. The sprinters have two days for track workouts (with options for both shorter and longer sprints) and two miscellaneous days for general recovery, plyos, agility, and block starts.
Races
On the weekends, we compete in a wide variety of races throughout the year. In the fall, we primarily focus on cross country meets (8K for men, 6K for women), competing against other running clubs in the Northeast. We also attend an indoor track meet in early December. During the spring semester, we go to indoor and outdoor track meets, competing against other university club teams as well as D3 track teams. Additionally, during both seasons, there are plenty of opportunities to compete in road races, from 5K’s all the way up to marathons. Check out our race schedule to see where we’ll be racing this season!
Events
In addition to typical practices and races, we also offer a number of social events throughout the semester. Some of the events we’ve done in the past include:
- Pasta Parties
- Chocolate Milk Mile
- Scavenger Hunt
- NUCR Bake-off
- Ice Skating
- And many more!
